Cybersecurity at the Edge: why should we care about, and why now!

The edge cloud, as natural evolution of cloud computing, is becoming a hybrid multi-cloud environment, federating communication and computing assets from operators, service providers and hyperscalers. Also emerging edge AI workloads and massive usage of data are imposing many challenges in terms of security and compliance with regulations, which are business critical. Furthermore, Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) scenarios are characterized by a complex multi-vendor, multi-supplier, multi-set of equipment including both HW and SW devices. Given this overall level of system heterogeneity, areas of security, trust, and privacy are key topics for the edge environments. This talk will provide a must-have overview on edge computing cybersecurity, with updates also on standards, compliance and best practices from the industry.
